Detailing and Working Drawings, Task 4

This task required us to form a group of 4, select a free standing furniture and produce an assembly drawing of the selected furniture. Our drawings included (plan, section, elevation and detailed drawings). Furthermore, we were asked to comment on the works of other groups while they were asked to do the same for our drawings. Our next task was to improve the mistakes other groups noticed within our drawings.

The images below show the progression of our drawings

Detailing and Working Drawings, Task 2

On the following week after presenting our Task 1, we were given lectures on how to present/write specifications for detailed drawings. Specifications are essential as it enables designers, manufactures and contractors determine the size and material of a specific furniture/object.

Our task was to produce 3 detailed drawings and provide specifications for each of them.

My Reflection:
I came across a few difficulties during this task, it was confusing for me to decide the order of the specifications, I had to refer to the lecture notes/examples given every time. I feel with practice I will be able to master it.

SEMESTER 3, Detailing and Working Drawings, Task 1

As we approach Semester 3, we are introduced to a subject module which focuses more on detailed sketches and techniques. The first task for this semester required us to produce a detailed sketch of a drafting table from our university's studio. The purpose of this task was to allow us explore different drawing and detailing techniques which would expand our knowledge and polish our current sketching and detailing skills. However, as it was our initial task we were not asked to produce measured drawings.

My Reflection:

We were strictly asked to use sketching pens for this task and produce sketches without the aid of rulers or any kind of drawing material. This was quite a challenge as it affected the neatness in my sketches. However, this is preparing us for the real world situation as in the real world we won't have time to use drawing materials to produce quick sketches for our clients and we will have to produce detailed sketches instantly as per the clients requirements.
