MEMORABILIA, Expression of Space, Application of Style.

This is a concept retail space especially design for music appreciation. The set-up and arrangement of merchandise with the help of displays system is the main concern in designing the outlet to attract customer’s attention. A place which only focuses on a specialty. A space that offered a unique style of design to enhance and introduce the selected music genre with an unusual experience to engage the customer in a way they are not likely to forget.

Task: We were to design a music retail store that would be more like a one stop center specifically selling products that is needed and related to the music, spark new interest by providing space to introduce the music and gain more followers to the genre. The store will be located at an intermediate lot of a shopping area in Kuala Lumpur.

We had to consider the experience of our socio-culture, art and environment of urban living. To achieve this, we were to design a functional space, which includes display, product info and memorable customer experience with interesting activities that are related to the music experience.

The areas that were suppose be in the retail store were: i. Entrance ii. Display Zone iii. Activities (interactive) Zone (related to product) iv. Purchasing Area (Payment Counter) v. Listening Booth vi. Stock Room/Storage.

For this project, we were be given a ‘design style” to incorporate with. The style I was given was "FUTURISTIC".

FUNCTIONAL MACHINE MODEL MAKING AND SURVIVAL POD

The final presentation, of both the models and weapon.

This is a weapon designed to be utilized for survival.

On the left is the Survival pod, designed for both the land and sea, with protection from both human terror and sea creature attacks ( the spikes will prevent the fishes from getting close to the pod).
On the right, is the functional model, which is a cargo transporter. It works with solar, wind and electrical energy. During the working process the bulb automatically lights up indication 'work in progress.
The fan, at the top acts as a windmill, and stores energy. The silver object at the top, acts as a solar power equipment, it also saves energy, which is then used during emergencies. The large object at the bottom, is  where the electrical power source. The circular object acts as a weight which is  automatically pulled down when weight is added to the cargo carrier area.

These are the pictures of the final outcome from different angles.

However, I was suggested to make some improvements.
Therefore, I added an elevation to the pod, along with a feature that would make it possible for the pod to float on water.

Final outcome

New ideas developed, I opted to have a pod which would be on land, rather then underground.

Things I collected to make a Functional Model

The initial Idea for creating a survival pod, for an island.
